The DEEBS are going to have to explain to some church leadership what they do - such as make fun of John Piper

"The letters are now being received by lots of people. Needless to say, I am going to have to discuss this with some folks. I am delaying the post until after I speak with a few individuals. Please keep me in your prayers as I seek to explain what we do here at TWW."

Looking forward to read how the DEEBS justify making fun of John Piper, Al Mohler, Mark Dever et. al.

  1. It would be nice if Dee would stop accusing people who disagree with her -- conservatives, moderates, and liberals -- across the nation of being behind the anonymous letter that was sent to Dee's North Carolina pastor. (Many of us have grown weary of the shoot-from-the-hip articles on TWW that contain little to no research from outside sources, professonals, and experts. And the constant negativity.)

Most people have no idea where Dee goes to church, and she has never named her church.

A commenter had to repeatedly warn Dee that if she accused/named a person and she was wrong that she could be sued for libel if she was wrong. (If the other party is another state than Dee, the case would end up in federal court.)

  2. I read the letter that an Anonymous person sent to Dee Parson's pastor, which is on the internet. Apparently it was sent to many people in Parson's community.

While the Anonymous letter writer and Parsons part company on many theological issues in the letter, there were a few points that the Anonymous Letter Writer made that I agreed with.

*Tom Chantry, a pastor was arrested and is being charged with sex crimes. His story has previously been run on TWW and his police booking photos. This was also available in the Arizona news media.

The Anonymous Letter Writer was correct to criticize Dee for publishing a photo of this man's children and elderly parents. And the people who offered to help her clear up the photo were also wrong to do so. This is a news story about him, not innocent children or parents. This is Journalism 101, which Dee and Deb should have taken in high school or college. This is journalistic ethics. Not everything Dee gets her hands on should be published. That's wrong. She's got a bad habit of doing this. (That's why newspapers have editors, codes of conduct, codes of ethics, and ombudsmen.)

    *Ian Campbell, deceased pastor. Scotland.

This is a pastor who committed suicide in Scotland. He had broken his vows to his wife. His wife was hurt by their former church and small community's actions, fled their community.

I have, however, disagreed with Dee's article and insistence that the women Campbell had sex with at his church were "affairs". How does Dee know that? How can she make that claim? What if these women were victims of clergy sexual abuse? Dee knows nothing about these women or what Campbell did to them. She has never heard their side of the story.
We don't know if he counseled them, made 'the moves' on them, took advantage of them, used the power of his position, or anything else he did.

There has been much clergy sexual abuse of adults in the U.S., and one story was even covered on TWW. That wife nearly ended her own life, she felt so cornered by her pastor who was preying upon her.

To quickly scorn these Scottish women without hearing their 'side of the story' is irresponsible and reckless. We have no idea if they were subjected to undue influence. To tarnish their reputations without giving them a chance to tell their side of the story, is wrong too.
