Wartburg takes their theology from "Sportin' Life."

In the New Testaments there are verses such as this:

[M]an ...is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. For man does not originate from woman, but woman from man; for indeed man was not created for the woman’s sake, but woman for the man’s sake. (1Corinthians 11:7-9)

The women of T.W.W. reject this verse of course - it stands completely against the feminist narrative of egalitarianism.

"SPORTIN' LIFE would undoubtedly agree.

[Porgy and Bess]

It ain't necessarily so
It ain't necessarily so
De things dat yo' liable to read in de Bible
It ain't necessarily so

Li'l David was small but oh my
Li'l David was small but oh my
He fought big Goliath who lay down and dieth
Li'l David was small but oh my

Oh Jonah he lived in de whale
Oh Jonah he lived in de whale
For he made his home in dat fish's abdomen
Oh Jonah he lived in de whale

Li'l Moses was found in a stream
Li'l Moses was found in a stream
He floated on water 'til ole Pharaoh's daughter
She fished him she says from that stream

It ain't necessarily so
It ain't necessarily so
Dey tell all you chillun de debble's a villain
But 'taint necessarily so

To get into Hebben don' snap for a sebben
Live clean, don' have no fault

Oh I takes de gospel whenever it's pos'ble
But wid a grain of salt

Methus'lah lived nine hundred years
Methus'lah lived nine hundred years
But who calls dat livin' when no gal'll give in
To no man what's nine hundred years

I'm preachin' dis sermon to show
It ain't nessa, ain't nessa
Ain't nessa, ain't nessa
It ain't necessarily so.

WARTBURGWATCH attacks Joe Carter for his article - Broken Wolves

TWW is upset with Joe Carter - primarily because he's a part of the Gospel Coalition, not just what he wrote.  As noted many, many times,  T.W.W. is opposed to historic, orthodox Christianity which the Gospel Coalition represents.  T.G.C.  thinks the Bible is inerrant in it's autographs and quite easy to understand if you take it at its word.  T.W.W. believes in feminism which is opposed to the simple reading of so much of the New Testament.

So anyhow Joe points out how Broken people can become wolves that go after the sheep.  He did NOT write this post with T.W.W. or other "discernment blogs" in mind.  But TWW and its commenters saw themselves in the mirror and attacked.

The comments are telling because the most angry, most attacking comments are written by people who write comments on T.W.W.

Dee says she's going to pray for Joe.

I have prayed for Dee that she will recognize that the blog she and Deb author simply invites victims and angry women to become even angrier, ever bitterer and deepens their sense of victimhood.  Nobody gets health by pursuing anger, bitterness or victimhood.  It ain't gonna happen.

Here's what Dee and Deb could do.  Feel free to point out issues in the church but leave the ad hominem attacks against flesh and blood people behind.  Everytime T.W.W. writes a post pointing out a real or potential problem, but then attacks a conservative Evangelical convinces me the "problem" is just the excuse to attack the people who deeply revere and hold to the wisdom of Scripture.

You don't agree with all that John Piper believes?  Fine but stop the personal attacks.  As I mentioned before, Dee and Deb act like the "Mean Girls" attacking those with whom they disagree.  It's one thing to be a Mean Girl when you're in your teens, but when you're playing the role of Mean Girls and you're in your 50s, it is really time to mature.

They continue to follow Saul Alinski's rule 12:    12. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

So, read Joe Carter's column.  You'll immediately be able to "discern" the women who comment on T.W.W. on a regular basis.  They will be the bitter/angry ones, the ones who appear to be advocates of the Alinski program.

WARTBURG WOMEN LESS SINFUL THAN CALVINIST MEN

On Good Friday, the Wartburg women post about how much God loves His children and that the emphasis of Easter is not the forgiveness of sinful men [ and they do mean men - not women - dryly ] but how much we are loved by God.

Now there is nothing new in this and many, many others [ including the dreaded Calvinists ] have made this argument.

But, this is Wartburgwatch after all and their number one priority is NOT to assure its readership that God loves them;   no, no, no, - their number one priority is to blast the conservative theologians who would dare suggest, as Kevin De Young does,  that Easter is about the forgiveness of sinful men that we might be in a right relationship to a righteous and holy God.

How Dare he - dryly.

Interestingly enough;
Men and women actually look at their sinfulness differently.  Men have and do, on occasion, commit suicide due to their horror of their own sinfulness?  Women?  That almost never appears to be the case.

I think men are more likely to be horrified by the evil that resides within them then women.  If you ask a man how he is sinful; he can generally spell it out in great detail.  Women seem less inclined to view their sins with despair.  Are women less sinful then men?  Absolutely not.  But men and women clearly have a different view of personal righteousness/sinfulness - IMHO.

And then there's this;

Luke 18:9-14New International Version (NIV)

The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector

To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’
13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

I think the majority of TWW commenters might be less than impressed by the sinner who pounded his chest and begged for God mercy versus the Pharisee who made a comparison and found the sinner wanting.  After all, the sinner was basically spouting "worm theology." The T.W.W. blog queens would not approve.

FYI - a paraphrase from a book I read many, many years ago - profound opening statement went something like this.

Mankind is both the glory and the scum of the earth -  how much is the glory and how much the scum?

WARTBURGWATCH hates complimentarians - disturbing stats suggest they're not winning the battle.

"White people love egalitarian gender roles. Minorities, not so much."

https://www.thecollegefix.com/bulletin-board/traditional-gender-roles-increasingly-popular-millennials-research-finds/

The ladies of TWW need to come to grips with the fact that the creator God put within women a desire to both lean upon and try to supplant the authority and power of their husbands.  It's simply foolish to think that young women will not look to their husbands to support and care for them.

One of the most telling stories I read from a couple of decades ago were these words from an avowed feminist.  [ Paraphase ]  What feminism has accomplished is to allow men to be come even more irresponsible.

[ You tell a man he's not responsible, you are, then VOILA.  He's gonna let you handle it; along with all the other things you handle.  If you can do it; why should he?  If you declare yourself to be egalitarian - hey, he's willing to let you handle all the load.]

T.W.W.'s motto:  Ruining Christian marriages for women through-out the white world.

WARTBURG WATCH hates Calvinists [ actually straw men, not the real Calvinists ]

SO TWW does a post where Roger Olson notes that 30 years ago a young Calvinist  at Bethel suggested he wasn't really of the faith if he wasn't a Calvinist. [ John Piper has personally repudiated that .]

GIVE ME A BREAK.  A young theologian says something stupid?  For goodness sake Dee-Deb.  We've all said stupid things at one time or another.  I READ stupid posts and comment on your blog weekly.  Sheesh ladies; get a grip.

COMMENTER  [ emily honey ] - in classic Wartburgian psycho-speak starts the psycho-babble.
"The young angry Calvinists, they misrepresent others because they do not truly understand or properly attach to their own beliefs. They may hold to their beliefs as a way to not actually deal with certain parts of the self and true suspicions about God they feel uncomfortable with.
They lack empathy, because they have not truly engaged with their heart and mind all the opposing arguments and perspectives. They have not thought carefully through their own stuff with humility.
Their theology is ultimately a projection of something or defense mechanism against reality and God while pretending they are engaging reality and God and self. So that it ends up being extremely self-deceptive and can be really hard to overcome or fix or point out to someone or see in yourself if you think and convince others that you are doing the opposite. Theology is often the best way to hide from God, I think!"
HORSE HOCKEY people.  What a crock.

But that's WartburgWatch for you.

WARTBURGWATCH ATTACKS MIKE PENCE for being careful around women

Jack wrote:
Reading the comments make me so glad I’ve left religion.
Men & women are equal. In every single way.
Was traveling for business this week. Had dinner with not one, but two, count’em two! Women who were married to other men. And I’m married too. And we were all sitting at the same table. If God does exist, he must have had a lightening bolt ready for all of us.
And get this! One of the pilots on the flight home was a woman. Locked in a cockpit with her male co pilot. What shenanigans must have occurred once the autopilot was turned on.
I think the Billy Graham rule was concocted so Billy Graham can let everyone know how pious he is. I think Pence is the same way. I doubt either of them applied the rule 100% of the time.
Just pious posturing. If I recall, Jesus wasn’t by that baloney either.
Darlene replied:
So, you know the spiritual condition of Billy Graham’s heart and Pence’s heart?
I love TWW, I really do. But this thread is beginning to sound frantic and judgmental.
_______________

Aw Darlene; you have recognized the problem.  "frantic and judgmental" is so often the status of T.W.W. and its commenters.
