Q. What is the aim of the ninth commandment?
A. That I
never give false testimony against anyone,
twist no one’s words,
not gossip or slander,
nor join in condemning anyone
rashly or without a hearing.1

Rather, in court and everywhere else,
I should avoid lying and deceit of every kind;
I should avoid lying and deceit of every kind;
these are the very devices the devil uses,
and they would call down on me God’s intense wrath.2

I agree with you on the 'survivor' blog community becoming part of the trend of assuming guilt based on allegations or only one witness,which the bible warns against. The ninth commandment is very relevant to this trend.
ReplyDeleteI have a question. It is very clear to me that many commenters at such blogs do not really care about abuse, but this is merely the occasion to sound off at pastors or doctrines they do not like.
Miss Daisy is a classic example of a self-centered attention seeker.
Do you think the blog administrators at TWW or its sister blog (as it were) SSB are themselves sincere in exposing abuse, or that this has turned into a whining and gossip centre? They all have in common that in the past they were badly hurt, have they failed to deal with this, and instead are using their blogs to hit back?
