WARTBURGWATCH attacks retiring blogger Frank Turk

FRANK TURK, one of the earlier Christian bloggers along with Phil Johnson and Dan Phillips
[ Pyro-maniacs ] has announced his retirement from social media - apologizes for perhaps influencing the existence of discernment blogs.

WartburgWatch graciously accepts his mea culpa - NOT

Comments include:

Turk is every bit the “Captain Drama” he onced[sic] accused Michael Spencer of being. I doubt anything other than a diminished fan base and actual embarrassment has caused Turk’s withdrawal (as temporarily as it will perhaps be).

turk struck me as being shallow and a bit immature, like a middle-schooler trying to bully people he was so obviously attempting to manipulate ... no wit at all.

this just sounds like a drama queen move.
I do not recognize this as genuine repentance. It reminds me of a child, who when faced with how they mistreated one of their siblings, retorts: “Yeah, I know I hurt my sister, but she made me do it!”
The man is obviously fried. You could sense it in his writing of late. He needs a break to rest and reflect.
He needs to see a physician to give him a referral. He should be under much greater medical care, and perhaps medication.
I bet he made up phony names and posted comments from these make-believe ‘adoring fans’ to shore up his nonsense. You see a lot of that on blogs these days.
So, here’s what I have to say to Frank Turk and the other voices of “reason and respectability in the church”, shut up!! You are in no way representative of Christ. You are Pharisees who not only watch as abusers cause little ones to stumble, but you stick your feet out to trip them further. I am disgusted with a of you who dare to stand up for an abuser and protect him.....you are disgusting.
Anger is a drug and angry self-righteous guys like Turk, JD Hall, Phil Johnson, and others, can’t go without their drug. I predict a 2017 come-back.
I believe Frank Turk has skillfully and in typical religious pride mode, overemphasized his influence within the church. I have never heard of him nor has he influenced my faith in Jesus Christ in any way, shape or form. I did read his departing article, a first for his blog, and found it to be deeply disturbing.
I personally do not regard Phil Johnson as a truly Christ-like humble man. I used to be a faithful follower of John MacArthur and cannot stomach the pride of him or his underling preachers for their ‘celebrity status’ troubles me greatly. Celebrity preacher men and women usually guard the sins of those they favor, all the while exposing the sins of those with whom they hate, even within their own churches. They are indeed, human after all.
Going offline cuts him off from his Narcissistic Supply.
How long until he’s back depends on how soon the withdrawals kick in and how severe they get.
Yep, these guys are addicted to cussing out others in Jesus’ name … which, last time I looked, is not a fruit of the Spirit. I guess “Be ye angry but sin not” is not in their version of the Bible.
Turk has spoken of his concern that poor, persecuted Tom Chantry will not be employable after the abuse accusations. I assume that since Turk is going dark, he will have a lot of time on his hands. So, if Chantry is not convicted, perhaps he and Turk of them could open a funeral parlor together.
Another Pastor’s Pet Pedo situation?
“All these pervs said one to another:
‘Perv unto perv o’er the world is Brother!'”
Wow. As sex crimes attorney/author/children’s advocate Andrew Vachss would say of enablers like Turk, “[He] isn’t just sick, but sickening.”
Guys like Turk are much too arrogant to just up and leave like this. It makes me wonder what may be revealed in the future that he doesn’t want to be publicly around for when another shoe drops.
From some of his articles I’ve read, I think he’s always been a bit unhinged ………. like an old barn door in an F-5 tornado.
I think it is wise for Turk to give up blogging–his lack of grace and generosity demonstrated in the attitude of superiority and passive-aggressive shots at others loudly proclaims that it is time for him to withdraw and re-evaluate.
What a disgusting non-apology from the boy-man. One word: unregenerate.

i think Frank Turk is stuck on a junior high hamster wheel: “well, if i can’t be big man on campus then…then….you smell!”

Exactly. He thinks he’s being Joe Cool when really he’s throwing a toddler tantrum.
And perhaps that is the problem with Mr. Turk – on paper he should be quite embarrassed, but instead is quite chuffed. That is what arrogance breeds, an inflated sense of one’s accomplishments and a complete disregard for the impact of one’s actions.

Dear Wade Burleson,  are you supportive of these comments on Frank Turk?  I'd love to know.

FOCUS on ABUSE, not on the saving and maturing work of JESUS CHRIST

What is the purpose of the Church?

Is the purpose of the church Social Justice?

or

The purpose of the church is to worship God (Luke 4:8; John 4:23; Rev. 4:10), study His Word (2 Tim. 2:15; 1 Cor. 4:6), pray (Acts 2:42), love one another (John 13:35; Phil. 1:1-4), help each other (Gal. 6:2), partake of baptism and the Lord's supper (Luke 22:19-20), to learn how to live as godly people (Titus 2:11-12), and to be equipped to evangelize the world (Eph. 4:12; Matt. 28:18-20).

Reading the discernment blogs,  the church should be about social justice, primary emphasis the eradication of abuse.

I highly suspect satan is very pleased if he can turn the church's attention away from the worship of God and the study of His Word, spiritual growth of his people to the eradication of abuse/sin.

[ Watching the emphasis on eradicating abuse, I've been reminded of the stance feminists took against the appointment of Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court.  They were, apparently, horrified that a man who suggested to a female colleague that the hair on a Coke can looked like a pubic hair, would ever be selected for the Supreme Court.  Then of course, when it became known that President Clinton had taken sexual advantage of a very young intern, there was silence.  At that point you realized, feminists were more concerned about progressive politics than they were the protection of women.
Reading the discernment blogs, I have the same sense.  They are horrified over alleged abuse but when you read their posts carefully, they are more horrified over people like John Piper, Al Mohler and Mark Dever.  It makes you think they are actually less concerned about abuse then they are the influence of these conservative Evangelicals.    Recent case in point, the fall of Tullian.  There will be a post about Tullian and in the post, you find Mark Dever being impugned.  As far as I can tell,  Mark Dever has nothing to do with Tullian's situation, but because their true agenda is to have the church adopt the progressive/feminist view of Scripture, all posts sooner or later will defame Piper, Mohler, Dever, etc.  It's a given.  As I said, it makes me think it's not ALL actually about abuse.]

"Piper is another clown I never heard of until reading this blog."

Wartburg has had a proxy  [ Todd ] write an attack  piece on
John Piper.  It's kinda long.

But this comment suggests they have achieved their purpose - the defamation of John Piper

"Piper is another clown I never heard of until reading this blog." Jack

The comments are quite instructive as to the goals of Wartburg - build resentment and anger towards the Evangelical leaders who hold to Biblical Orthdoxy.

They work quite hard to establish a bias against men like John Piper.

But haven't the prophets always been hated?  Indeed they have.

John Piper is a prophet of our time - a great and Godly [not perfect ] follower of Jesus Christ.  If you listen to John Piper, you'll never hear ad hominem attacks on his enemies - that's saved for the "discernment" blogs and he doesn't write those kind of things.

That's Wartburg's bread and butter however.

WARTBURGWATCH ATTACKS CAROLYN MCCULLEY

You might think, rightly so, that Wartburg Watch staunchly rejects all things that might reek of the Fighting Fundies.  But you would be wrong.

T.W.W. is actually an advocate of the most divisive issue of the "Fighting Fundies", SECONDARY SEPARATION.

For those of you not familiar with the "Fighting Fundies" secondary separation has been one of the more defining issues of the cause.

Ernest Pickering
A secondary separatist would be one who will not cooperate with (1) apostates; or (2) evangelical believers who aid and abet the apostates by their continued organizational or cooperative alignment with them; or, as employed by some (3) fundamentalists who fellowship with those in the previous category. (217)
Ernest Pickering says you must separate from your brethren if they do not sufficiently separate from those who will even cooperate with [ liberal or others who disagree with fundamentalism as he sees it ] Christians.

That brings us back to T.W.W.

"Given the fact that Carolyn McCulley was heavily influenced by Mahaney and other pastors in SGM, we are greatly concerned ......"

SIMPLE TRANSLATION:  You must separate from Carolyn McCulley because she was, at one time, a member of a Sovereign Grace church and thereby poisoned by the most evil man in Christendom [ editorial interpretation], C.J. Mahaney.

T.W.W. doesn't attack her theology - they are not good on the doctrine/theological spectrum - but they attack her because she was, at one time, a member of a Sovereign Grace Church where unspeakable things took place [ editorial interpretation ].

She is/was apparently speaking at a conference for women sponsored by the baptists.

So T.W.W., like fundamentalism through the last century, has demanded that she be rejected on the basis of SECONDARY SEPARATION.

Fundamentalism at its finest.

UPDATE:  One of the comments made by "Velour,"

Carolyn McCulley isn’t just sick but sickening.

I would be afraid to share a pew with some of the commenters at Wartburg Watch.

WARTBURGWATCH ATTACKS PETE WILSON

"Understanding that all pastors are a sinner is vital to understanding the Gospel."

The Queens of Wartburg are, of course, correct.  Sin has stained us all.

I'd say:

"Understanding that all Discernment Bloggers are sinners is vital to understanding Internet Shaming."

Now I don't know a thing about Pete Wilson other than he suddenly resigned, indicated he was burned out and not sure of what he believed.  If there are marital issues involved, he wouldn't be the first pastor [ nor the last ] to carry that stain.  May he and his wife work their marriage out for the Glory of God.  Is he a sinner?  Of course, we're all stained.

But I saw this sentence one day and thought it was appropriate.

In John 8 Jesus seems to indicate that the prerequisite for judgement is perfection, and I’m nowhere near that standard.

It is Godly wisdom to be careful of judging others -

++++++++++++

UPDATE:   "Lisa" has attempted to defend the church.  Not suprisingly, the commentors, including, Dee and Deb, have jumped all over her.  Sadly, it was brutal to read.  If you were expecting compassion, you'd be disappointed.

The commentors just mimiced the blog authors;  they put Lisa in their scribal gunsights and let fly.  Lisa will never have to seek out psycho-analysis, the commentors were all to eager to analyze her for free.  The analysis wasn't kind.

WARTBURG WOMEN? DOES THIS FIT?
